Ballistic Pallet System is a lightweight ballistic protective system to provide fragmentation protection for the Pallet Load System (PLS). This system was developed by the US Army for the Transportation Command and tested at the US Army TECOM. The system weight is 1.2 lbs per sq. foot. BPS is designed to use existing attachment mechanisms and does not require soldier training or special tools. It has been tested to meet an installation time of 30 minutes in the field. BPS system is designed to permit a range of loads to be covered and to safely transport pallets. BPS is capable of being used on all manufactured military and civilian transports. This system has been battlefield tested in Somalia , Haiti , Bosnia , Kosovo , Afghanistan and Iraq .
